Pues el pensamiento es efímero, y la imagen, absoluta. Por eso se puede hablar de un paralelismo entre la impresión que recibe una persona espiritualmente sensible y una experiencia exclusivamente religiosa. El arte incide sobre todo en el alma de la persona y conforma su estructura espiritual.

El poeta es una persona con la fuerza imaginativa y la psicología de un niño. Su impresión del mundo es inmediata, por mucho que se mueva por las grandes ideas del universo. Es decir, no 'describe' el mundo, el mundo es suyo.

Condición imprescindible para la recepción de una obra de arte es el estar dispuesto y ser capaz de tener confianza, fe, en un artista. Pero en ocasiones resulta difícil superar el grado de incomprensión que nos separa de una imagen poética perceptible exclusivamente por el sentimiento. Lo mismo que en el caso de la fe verdadera en Dios, también esta fe presupone una actitud especial, un potencial específico, puro, espiritual."
