No esperaba ese comentario de alguien que parecía tan abstraído en su mundo. Al escucharlo recordé los arboles que formaban un arco de frescor hasta la entrada del pueblo. Merecía la pena conocerlos. Los alrededores estaban sembrados de ellos: los campos militares. Se hablaba de la riqueza de esas tierras por lo que crecía la especie que daba extensa sombra y frutos para los animales.

Ese día pasábamos por entre las haciendas azucareras a ambos lados de la autopista. Aquí y allá, como pintadas, se veían las copas centenarias. 

-Yo no sabía que había tanto odio bajo esos samanes.

I did not expect that comment from someone who seemed so absorbed in his world. Upon hearing him, I remembered the trees that formed an arch of freshness to the entrance of the village. It was worth knowing them. The surroundings were planted with them: the military camps. Everyone spoke of the wealth of the land which grew the species that gave extensive shade and fruit for animals.

That day we passed between the sugar plantations on both sides of the highway. Here and there, as if painted, you could see the centenarian tree cups. 

-I did not know there was so much hatred under these saman trees.
