"El tiempo, el ser humano, las situaciones, en su máxima fragilidad, amenazados por la muerte. Es este el leit motiv de Roberto Obregón (Colombia, 1946-Venezuela, 2003), cuya obra estará en una exposición titulada El elocuente silencio de las formas en la Sala Mendoza (Universidad Metropolitana, Caracas). 

El curador Ariel Jiménez explica que se trata de la primera y más completa exposición antológica del artista, desde su período inicial, hasta las piezas que realizó poco antes de morir.

'El público verá su período figurativo (1964-1967), que es cuando hace sus dos primeras exposiciones, la del Centro de Bellas Artes de Maracaibo, y la segunda (20 pinturas), en la galería XX2, de Caracas. Luego sus Crónicas, el inicio de su obra madura, entre 1974-1975, que son paisajes, rosas y autorretratos. Las Disecciones reales, formales. Las Niágaras y por último, las Masadas, una de sus últimas series, incluyendo obras de 2002', explica el curador.

Esta exposición se enmarca en una muestra mayor, titulada Nuevos Vínculos. Selección de obras de la Trigésima Bienal De Sao Paulo. La inminencia de las Poéticas. Vale recordar que la Trigésima edición de la Bienal de Sao Paulo se celebró entre el 7 de septiembre y el 9 de diciembre de 2012. En esa oportunidad, fueron incluidas obras de 111 artistas por la curaduría, que estuvo dirigida por el venezolano Luis Pérez-Oramas."
