 Emoción y ventaja de la probada profundidad

Gracias a los que se fueron por la vereda oscura 

moliendo las hojas tostadas. 

A los que me dijeron: esperanos bajo ese árbol. 

Gracias a los que se fueron a buscar fuego para sus cigarrillos 

y me dejaron sola, 

enredada en los soles pequeños de una sombra olorosa. 

Gracias a los que se fueron a buscar agua para mi sed 

y me dejaron ahí 

bebiéndome el agua esencial de un mundo estremecido. 

Gracias a los que me dejaron escuchando un canto enselvado 

y viendo soñolienta los troncos bordados de lianas marchitas. 

Ahora voy indemne entre las gentes.

Thanks to those who went down the dark path

grinding the toasted leaves.

To those who told me: wait for us under that tree.

Thanks to those who went to find fire for their cigarettes

and left me alone,

entangled in the small suns of a fragrant shadow.

Thanks to those who went to get water for my thirst

and they left me there

drinking the essential water of a shuddering world.

Thanks to those who left me listening to a wooded song

and looking sleepily at the trunks embroidered with withered vines.

Now I walk unharmed among the people.
