The room
With a mirror
I could see the sky.
With two mirrors or three
justly placed, I could see
the sun bowing to the evening chimneys.
Moonrise- the moon itself might appear
in a fourth mirror placed high
and close to the open window.
With enough mirrors within
and even without the room, a cantilever
supporting them, mountains
and oceans might be manifest.
I understand perfectly
that I could encounter my own eyes
too often- I take account
of the danger-.
If the mirrors are large enough, and arrayed
with bravura, I can look
beyond my own glance.
With one mirror
how many stars I could see?
I don't want to scape, only to see
the enactment of rites.
El cuarto
Con un espejo
podría ver el cielo.
Con dos espejos o tres
justamente colocados, podría ver
el sol inclinándose hacia las chimeneas de la noche.
Sale la luna- la luna misma podría aparecer
en un cuarto espejo colocado alto
y cerca de la ventana abierta.
Con suficientes espejos adentro
e incluso sin la habitación, un voladizo
apoyándolos, montañas
y océanos podrían manifestarse.
Entiendo perfectamente
que podría encontrar mis propios ojos
a menudo- tengo en cuenta
el peligro-.
Si los espejos
son lo suficientemente grandes, y engalanados
con audacia, puedo mirar
más allá de mi propia mirada.
Con un espejo
¿cuántas estrellas podría ver?
No quiero escapar, solo ver
la representación de ritos.
