sequía: flores de otoño

Aquí en Venezuela no tenemos otoño, tenemos sequía. Todo se seca y solo aquellos árboles que no requieren de tanta agua florecen brillantes y amarillos. En el hemisferio norte el verano llega a su fin precisamente hoy, 31 de Octubre. La cultura occidental celebra hoy el día de brujas, Halloween, que en inglés significa 'Víspera de todos los santos' (All Hallows' Eve), o sea la víspera de la fiesta de Todos los Santos. El verdadero origen de Halloween es la ceremonia celta Samhain que rinde homenaje a nuestros ancestros y el día de los muertos. Marca el tiempo del año en que el mundo espiritual y el material hacen contacto por un instante. Me gusta pensar que tengo la libertad de rendirle este homenaje a todos mis ancestros para que el resto del año sigan cuidándome y me acompañen a llevar la vida adelante.

In Venezuela we do not have autumn but a dry season. Everything dries up and only those trees that do not require so much water flower brilliantly and yellow. In the northern hemisphere summer comes to an end precisely today, October 31st. Western culture celebrates Halloween, a word that has its roots in the celtic festival of Samhain and the Cristian holy day of All Saints (All Hallows' Eve). The true origin of Halloween is a ceremony in homage of our ancestors and the day of the dead. It marks the time in the year when the spiritual and material worlds touch for a moment. I like to think the I have the freedom to pay tribute to my ancestors so that the rest of the year they continue caring for me and help me live on.
