La patrona de los larenses llegó a Venezuela en 1706, cuando se trajeron las imágenes de las vírgenes Inmaculada y Divina Pastora. Por equivocación, fueron entregadas en las iglesias que no correspondían y, cuando intentaron llevarse a la Pastora para la iglesia La Concepción, en Barquisimeto, no pudieron moverla. Sólo lograron levantarla cuando decidieron dejarla en Santa Rosa. En 1812, un terremoto destruyó el templo donde se veneraba a la Pastora y la imagen quedó intacta. En 1855, el padre José Macario Yépez, al ver que la población moría por una epidemia de cólera, se ofreció como la última víctima. Sacó a la Virgen en procesión y murió de cólera poco después. Así se inició la costumbre de que la Virgen saliera de Santa Rosa a visitar Barquisimeto.

Esta virgen hizo el milagrito que el gobierno actual levantara el racionamiento electrico impuesto desde ayer en todo el terrritorio nacional. No es que no va a haber racionamiento dadas las condiciones deplorables en el que está todo el sistema de distribución electrica pero al menos van a organizar y racionalizar la acción tomando en cuenta las opiniones de la gente, organizaciones comunitarias y gobiernos locales. Esta vez les salió el tiro por la culata y se dieron cuenta del desastre causado. Veremos que ocurre pués medidas de este tipo, una tras otra, solo prometen caos generalizado. Gracias a Dios los angelitos hacen presencia y la gente despierta y protesta. "La culpa es de El Niño. De El Niño que tenemos en Miraflores", grita un hombre en la esquina de Cipreses a Marrón.

 This virgin did a small miracle that made the current government lift the electricity rationing imposed since yesterday throughout Venezuela. Not that there will not be any rationing, given the deplorable conditions in which the system of electrical distribution  is, but at least they will organize and rationalize the action by taking into account the views of people, community organizations and local governments. This time this action backfired on them and they realized the disaster that was caused. We will see what happens because such measures, one after another, only cause generalized chaos.
