todos los santitos en fila para celebrar a San Benito y al Niño Jesús

En estas fechas y para recibir el año nuevo, todos los santitos de mi altar hacen fila desordenada para celebrar al Santo Mayor, San Benito, y al Niño Jesús.  

          Dicen que en Venezuela esta tradición de celebrar a San Benito se ha mantenido desde la colonia. Cuentan que los pobladores de los páramos se resistían a ser dominados por los españoles; un día estaban en desventaja numérica pero se salvaron al invocar a San Benito, que bajó en una nube de pólvora para darles valor a los hombres y espantar al enemigo.

          Hace unos días, pasé casi toda la semana limpiando y reacomodando mi altar. Este es un procedimiento lento y cuidadoso en el que saco para afuera todos los santos y demás objetos y de esta manera alivianar el espacio, limpiándolo física y espiritualmente. Además, quería repintar las paredes y cuando fuí a raspar me dí cuenta que todas las capas de pintura de la pared del fondo se venían por la humedad de hace unos meses. Esto significó pelar los pedazos malos, aplicar fondo antihumedad, remastiquear y luego aplicar las dos capas de pintura. Lo tomé con calma y estas imágenes son frescas. 

          En lo personal, deseo buenos cambios para el 2012, prosperidad, salud y voluntad para continuar mi desarrollo espiritual y creativo. Pido para mi hija Nayarí Castillo y su esposo, Hanns Holger Rutz, un nuevo año pleno de salud, creatividad, fertilidad, prosperidad, armonía y un hogar lleno de tolerancia, paciencia y alegría bajo aquellos cielos de Inglaterra y Alemania; que su voluntad sea tan poderosa que puedan desarrollar buen caracter para llegar a su mejor destino de vida. Pido para Venezuela, mi familia, mis amigos y amigas: paz, tolerancia, cese de violencia y polarización política, prosperidad y cambios radicales en el sistema político, la disolución del autoritarismo y una nueva conciencia cívica que implique el cuidado por el otro, la naturaleza y todo lo que nos rodea. Pido para la tierra: paz, cese a la violencia de género, prosperidad, conciencia acrecentada de amor y cuidado por la naturaleza, las otras culturas y religiones, todo lo que nos rodea y crecimiento espiritual y creativo para los seres humanos en general. Ah y ¡¡¡¡¡NI UN MALTRATO MÁS!!!!!

On these dates and in preparation to receive the new year, all the little saints from my altar form a disorderly queue to celebrate the Mayor Saint, Saint Benito, and Baby Jesus.
          In Venezuela, this tradition to celebrate San Benito has been maintained since colonial times. They say that the inhabitants of the mountains were reluctant to be dominated by the Spanish; and one day when they were outnumbered, were saved by invoking San Benito, who came down in a cloud of gunpowder to give courage to the men and scare the enemy.
          A few days ago, I spent almost the entire week cleaning and rearranging my altar. This is a slow and careful process in which I take outside all the saints and other objects and thus lighten the space, to clean it physically and spiritually. I also wanted to repaint the walls and when I scraped them, all the layers of the paint in the end wall came off due to excessive moisture from a few months ago. This meant stripping the bad areas, applying anti-moisture solution to them, adding primer to the surface and then applying two coats of paint. I took it in stride and these images are fresh ones.
       For me personally, I wish good changes during 2012, prosperity, health and willingness to continue my spiritual and creative development. I pray for my daughter Nayarí Castillo and her husband, Hanns Holger Rutz, to have a new year full of health, creativity, fertility, prosperity, harmony and a home full of tolerance, patience and cheerfulness under those skies of England and Germany; that their will be so powerful to develop good character in order to reach their ultimate destiny in life. I pray for Venezuela, my family and all my friends: wishing for peace, tolerance, the cessation of violence and political polarization, prosperity and radical changes in the political system, the dissolution of authoritarianism and a new civic consciousness that involves caring for the other, nature and everything around us. I pray for the earth: wishing for peace, the end of gender violence, wealth, heightened awareness of love and care for nature, other cultures and religions and everything around us and spiritual growth and creativity for all human beings in general. Ah and something else: NOT ONE MORE ABUSE !!!!!
