ella reluce::she shines

 Ella reluce

en la densa vegetación.

La veo tomar en sus manos

una blanda madera

todavía húmeda

y ponerse a labrar lentamente un rostro

y dejarlo para que los años lo terminen

y sea suave como el que agradece

y firme a su modo

y atento.

in the thick vegetation.

I see her take in her hands

a piece of soft wood

still moist

and start to slowly carve a face

and leave it for the years to finish,

for it to be gentle like someone's grateful

and firm in its way

and alert.
