Visions to heal the enemy within

Before crossing over, the Holy Man called a Circle, a council meeting. The younger men and women who had looked to the Old One for guidance were anxious to hear his words. The Holy Man spoke of visions, of aspirations, and of dreams.
"In every person's life, they may have one vision of what they want to be. It may take every winter of that person's life to fully understand those glimpses of his or her path. Understanding the signs that guide you lies in seeing that the path is not outside of daily life. The road to attaining your victory is made of your faith. The challenges are made of personal weaknesses. The rocky trails are made of stubbornness, pride and arrogance. The swamps are made from self-doubt, lack of courage and mistrust. Those who seem to hinder your progress are showing you the places inside of yourself where you are split in two, taunting and criticizing your resolve to count coup.
"In my walk, I have seen many who blamed the Great Mystery for their failures. Many who raged against other outside forces, breaking faith with their families and friends. Many more who refused the gifts of compassion and forgiveness that could have given them strength, choosing instead the false pride of self-importance.
"The road to becoming your vision is always straightforward. Your potential and your role is always personal. That personal vision of yourself can be accessed and attained only when you have the courage to heal the enemy within."
