On the third day of January, visitors and children arrive. I have learned to be attentive to the events of the first twelve days of the year. Each day marks the month that corresponds to each day and these days have been busy. Yesterday I even made a short trip into the state of Miranda to a small village in the mountain called La Magdalena near Cúa, a dormitory town for Caracas. Today I received an early visit from a fellow swimmer, Ximena Gutierrez, who is a fashion designer and came to propose an exhibition project for the first part of the year. Her proposal may be stimulating for my painting and the work with fabrics that has been pending. By mid-afternoon came Edgar Castillo, one of my brother-in-law, with his family; I am grateful to them for showing their affection and for being a bridge with the Castillo family these days. Then later come Angela Venegas with her daughter, Valentina, and together we watch the movie Oliver Twist, the musical of the seventies, which I love since my teens because of the innocence and sweetness of its central character. Today I celebrate with these piñatas because the day has been like a holiday for me, a Sunday of festivity and colors that mark the month of March 2010.
At 10 pm on a TV Española movie, Norma Leandro in a beautiful role says at the end: "Now I have three choices: I can do what I want, I can do what I must, and I can sit down and think." Like her, I sit down to think and feel myself.
