What could more gently awake a child than a tender voice that does not scare him but simply reminds him that the night is over and the light has come? He is not told that the nightmares that have been terrorizing him were not real, because children believe in magic. He is simply ensured that he is safe now. Later he is taught to distinguish the difference between being asleep and being awake, to understand that he does not have to be afraid of dreams. And so, when he has the nightmares once again, he will call on the light himself to vanish them.
