I return to my strange doings wanting to travel and run out of Venezuela, a country tangled in the web of magic socialism. First I choose this boat that being so far, it passed me by without hearing my cry. Afterward I face the truck that I caught on a wall in San Carlos, Cojedes, and since I am not a vegetable vendor it does not buy what I sell. I do not give up and grab the bike to see if I can carry all that weight through the streets unnoticed. I have always wanted to be invisible and today I want to be Chinese. Wonder if I may be allowed to cross the border without paying taxes nor having to untie the packages that hold my most treasured objects. Shall I go to Houston, Texas, across Central America, home to my family? How can I, my dear teachers, survive these calamities and understand the life lessons you are throwing at me? How not to laugh at myself while looking for solutions to this madness that keeps me in suspense? Today the government begins a rationing plan of electricity during four hours every other day. In the area where we live in Caracas it will be from 12 noon to 4 pm. Today they mess with our lunch, the soap opera and our nap time; tomorrow will be another day. They have assured us that the electronic equipment need not be damaged as these are programmed electric cuts. During eleven years of government they have not been capable to do maintenance work on the turbines of the Guri and now they blame every thing on the El Niño phenomenon. I know the problem of global warming is not a lie but this disaster has been predicted for over five years. Today we look at it head-on, suffer it. I just want to run away. I am trapped in the most senseless jumble of our contemporary history.
