El arte social es aquel arte que encuentra lugares para ser vividos por una audiencia variada y no necesariamente ni solamente para aquellos públicos acostumbrados y conocedores del arte. El arte social ocupa los espacios públicos y reformula los espacios del arte y la cultura. Se trata de crear nuevos contextos y formas para integrar las expresiones artísticas individuales y/o colectivas a nuevos espacios.

El artista, el creador, se expresa individualmente y necesita de la mirada del otro para seguir creando. El arte en la contemporaneidad es ese espacio sensible que se construye entre la obra y el observador; es la experiencia sensible que ocurre entre el público y la creación. Lo que el artista logra internamente cambia la realidad exterior, social. Lo que nosotros logramos es en el fondo nuestro regalo a la sociedad y a la vida colectiva. Estoy convencida, como en muchos otros aspectos, que es necesario expandir el concepto de arte social en la contemporaneidad.

Social art is that art which finds places to be experienced by diverse audiences and not necessarily nor only for a public accustomed to or knowledgeable of art. Social art occupies public spaces and reformulates the space of art and culture. It is about creating new contexts and ways to integrate individual artistic expression and/or collective expression to new spaces. The artist, the creator, expresses individually and needs the eyes of the other to continue creating. Art in contemporary times is that sensitive space which is constructed between the art work and the observer; it is the sensory experience that occurs between the public and the creation. What the artist manages internally changes the external reality, social reality. What we achieve is basically our gift to society and community life. I am convinced, as in many other respects, that it is necessary to expand the social concept of art in contemporary times.
