el cuerpo es nuestro continente

El cuerpo, en el proceso de comunicación, es una de las herramientas privilegiadas. Podemos llamarlo herramienta, podemos llamarlo instrumento, pero el cuerpo es nuestro continente. Y como tal, posee una serie de posibilidades comunicativas. Me explico: prácticamente desde el momento de la concepción, el cuerpo del que será el futuro ser está recibiendo información. En el momento del nacimiento, el cuerpo ya lleva toda su historia grabada, una historia que a lo largo de los años va acumulándose y localizándose en determinadas partes del cuerpo. Por lo tanto, estimular, trabajar y desbloquear el cuerpo significa poder, de alguna manera, rescatar informaciones, rescatar emociones que pueden estar escondidas y que ahora, como adultos, pueden sernos de mucha utilidad, sobre todo para aumentar la calidad de nuestra comunicación. El cuerpo es un medio que ha estado olvidado durante mucho tiempo, tanto en el tema educativo como en el tema formativo en general. El cuerpo lo trabajaban, sobre todo, las personas que se dedicaban al mundo artístico, al de la danza, el teatro y la educación física, pero tal vez era una concepción completamente diferente de entender el cuerpo. Creo que, desde la educación física, el cuerpo se entiende como un instrumento de potencia y de competitividad.

Además, tengo la convicción, y lo sabemos, que los seres humanos somos educables hasta....no hay límite de edad. Por lo tanto, si cultivamos las artes, si cultivamos los lenguajes, el cuerpo es el otro aspecto que debemos cuidar, que debemos trabajar, y no sólo físicamente. Porque no es un aprendizaje cerrado, tú superas un ciclo, un dominio, y eso te abre más vías de contacto, de comunicación con el otro. Quizás es una exploración en espiral, sin final. Pero tampoco provoca angustia, en el sentido de que no es aquello a lo que nunca podré llegar, sino que vas llegando y vas haciendo nuevos descubrimientos, cosa que también te impulsa a encontrar otros nuevos. Es una fuente inagotable de aprendizaje, de placer, de autoconocimiento. Cuanto más podamos trabajarlo, más sabremos sobre nosotros mismos.

The body plays a key role in communication processes. We can call the body a tool or instrument, but really it is our container and as such, represents a wide range of communication possibilities. Let me explain. Practically from the moment of conception, the body receives information on what constitute the future being. When you are born, the body has already recorded many things which, with the years, gradually build up and become located in certain parts of the body. Stimulating, exercising, and freeing the body involves recovering information and emotions which may be hidden and which could help us a great deal as adults, especially in enhancing the quality of our communication. The body is a medium which has long been ignored, both in education and in training in general. People who work in the artistic world particularly focus on using their bodies. That applies to dance, theater, physical education, but above all, it involves a different way of understanding the body. I think that physical education tends to treat the body as instrument of power and competition.
I am convinced that human beings can be educated right up to...well, there is no age limit. If we cultivate the arts and languages, the body is simply another question that we should work on and I do not only mean physically speaking. This exploration is a bit like a spiral- it has no end. But it is not something stressful- I mean you never feel that you can not reach your goal. The important thing is that you get closer to it the whole time, making new discoveries on the way, which in turns impels you to search for new ones. It is an inexhaustible source of learning, pleasure and self-knowledge. The more we can work on it, the more we discover about ourselves.
