 Yo, mi escondite

Por ver el verde de los árboles

dejo de mirar los árboles;

por oler el aroma de la rosa

y ver sus colores

paso desapercibida la rosa;

por oír el canto de los pájaros 

y admirar sus colores

y envidiar sus vuelos

desconozco aún el más común

de los pájaros;

por ver el agua 

se me escapa el río

como la playa y las olas

y las velas y los peces

me ocultan el mar

y las luces y los carros,

las torres, la gente,

los puentes y túneles

no me permiten mirar la ciudad.

Como yo

que en mis miedos y dudas,

verdades, mentiras,

afectos y odios,

remordimientos y olvidos,

me oculto.

Me, my hiding place
 
In order to see the green of the trees
 I don't look at the trees;
 in order to smell the scent of the rose
 and view its colors
 I don't notice the rose;
 in order to hear the birds singing
 and admire their colors 
and envy their flights
 I don't even know the most common
 of birds;
 seeing the water
 the river escapes me,
 like the beach and the waves 
and the sails and the fish
 hide the sea from me 
and the lights and the cars,
 the towers, the people, 
the bridges and the tunnels 
don't allow me to see the city.

As I
 in my fears and doubts,
 truths, lies, 
affection and hatred, 
remorse and oblivion,

I hide.
