tao te ching, LXXIX

My amigo Luis Alejandro Contreras en su entrada de ayer a Facebook me manda este mensaje: 

Ayer he reencontrado mi traducción preferida del Tao Te Ching (*) y la primera página que abrí, reza así:

A un gran odio ha de corresponderse con amor.
De otro modo, aunque el odio cese, siempre dejará huella.
¿Puede terminar esto felizmente?
Por ello el Sabio prefiere el lado izquierdo (**) en un acuerdo
y no le preocupa lo que hagan los demás.
El virtuoso acude al acuerdo.
El rencoroso a la exacción.
El Tao del cielo no tiene  preferencias.
Se mantiene siempre al lado de quien obra bien.

(*) A pesar de ser una traducción de la versión inglesa de Ch´u Ta-Kao.
(**)Antiguamente la derecha era el sitio de honor. El Sabio se mantiene a la izquierda porque no desea preferencia.

My friend Luis Alejandro Contreras in yesterday's post to Facebook sent me this message:
 

"Yesterday I rediscovered my favorite translation of the Tao Te Ching (*) and when I opened the firstpage it read:

A great hatred must be corresponded with love.
Otherwise, even if the hate ceases, it will always leave an impression.
Can this end happily?
Thus the Wise man prefers the left side (**) in an agreement
and does not care what others do.
The virtuous turns to the agreement.
The spiteful to the demand.
The Tao of heaven does not have preferences.
It always remains on the side of who acts correctly.

(*) Despite being a translation of the English version of Ch'u Ta-Kao.
(**) Formerly the right was the place of honor. The wise man remains on the left because he does notwant to stand out.
