La Velada de Santa Lucía 2011: arte de los grafiteros zmar-11

A partir de hoy incorporo al blog algunas de las imágenes que hice fotográficamente durante la Velada de Santa Lucía en Maracaibo, Venezuela entre el 3 y 6 de Marzo, 2011. Tengo muchas fotos en mis manos y las incluiré lentamente para darme el chance de reflexionar y contar las experiencias vividas. La Velada es un encuentro de creadores organizado por Clemencia Labin desde hace ya once años. Su característica primordial es la de ser una escultura social viva que mezcla y une a los artistas participantes con la gente que conforma la comunidad de Santa Lucía, uno de los antiguos barrios de la ciudad de Maracaibo. Todos participamos/convivimos/compartimos a diferentes niveles durante una semana y en especial durante las noches del viernes y sábado en el que viene mucha gente de todo Maracaibo y el país a celebrar y a ver los resultados creados. Año tras año, por ser una experiencia viva, han habido cambios, ha ido creciendo y madurando como vivencia estética para todos los involucrados. Hoy quiero resaltar el trabajo de un grupo de grafiteros quienes durante varios años han participado y que en esta edición presentaron el ambicioso proyecto mural ZMAR-11. Ellos son del Colectivo Los Silenciadores: Chack Morten, HRoja, Erre_De, Sar, Casa con los invitados Okso y Senk. Dicen en su texto que acompaña la obra:

Esta propuesta se basa en la intervención de la casa del Sr. Antonio Rodríguez, tapicero de Santa Lucía, la cual pintamos el año pasado. En esta oportunidad recrearemos la vida marina, buscando la identificación de los visitantes con las costas venezolanas para destacar la importancia que tiene el arte de calle en el devenir del transeúnte y la carga que puede llegar a tener una imagen dentro de un círculo social; enlazando a su vez hechos históricos que cuentan el llamado Ciclos de los Piratas en Venezuela en donde se dice que entre 1614 y 1678 se registraron diversos ataques piratas al Lago de Maracaibo. 

Este año contamos con la participación de nuestros grandes amigos y compañeros de trabajo Okso y Senk, artistas plásticos que sin lugar a dudas cautivarán con sus formas para escenificar parte de la historia que queremos presentar. Con este trabajo, pretendemos hacer un referente pictórico dentro de una localidad que se involucra año tras año con el arte, logrando que exista un diálogo basado en la interacción artista-espectador-obra.

From today on, I include some of the photographic images I took during the Evening of Santa Lucia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, between March 3th through 6th, 2011. I have many photos in my hands and slowly I will include them to give me the chance to reflect and tell about the experiences that were lived there. The Velada is a gathering of artists organized by Clemencia Labin starting eleven years ago. Its main characteristic is to be a live social sculpture that mixes and brings together participating artists with the people who make up the community of Santa Lucia, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city of Maracaibo. We all participate / live together / share at different levels during a week and especially during Friday and Saturday nights in which many people come from Maracaibo and the rest of the country to celebrate and see the results created. Year after year, because it is a life experience, there have been changes, it has grown and matured as an aesthetic experience for all involved. Today I want to highlight the work of a group of graffiti artists who have participated for several years and who this year presented an ambitious mural project Zmar-11. They are the Collective The Silencers: Chack Morten, HRoja, Erre_De, Sar, House and Senk and Okso as their special guests. They say in their text that accompanies the work:

This proposal is based on the intervention of the house of Mr. Antonio Rodriguez, Santa Lucia's upholsterer, which we painted last year. On this occasion we recreate marine life seeking to identify the visitors with the Venezuelan coast, to point out the importance of street art in the transformation of the passerby and the force that an image may create within a social circle; connecting also historical events that narrate the so called Cycle of the Pirates in Venezuela where it is told that between 1614 and 1678 there were a number of pirate attacks on Lake Maracaibo.
This year we welcomed the participation of our great friends and coworkers Okso and Senk, artists who undoubtedly will captivate you with their forms to create  part of the story we want to present. With this work, we make pictorial reference within a locality that gets involved every year with art, to ensure that there be a dialogue based on the interaction artist-spectator-work.
