La Velada de Santa Lucía 2011: el retrato hablado de Anna Lynn

Continúo incorporando al blog algunas de las imágenes que hice fotográficamente durante la Velada de Santa Lucía en Maracaibo, Venezuela entre el 3 y 6 de Marzo, 2011. Tengo muchas fotos en mis manos y las incluiré lentamente para darme el chance de reflexionar y contar las experiencias vividas. La Velada es un encuentro de creadores organizado por Clemencia Labin desde hace ya once años. Su característica primordial es la de ser una escultura social viva que mezcla y une a los artistas participantes con la gente que conforma la comunidad de Santa Lucía, uno de los antiguos barrios de la ciudad de Maracaibo. Todos participamos/convivimos/compartimos a diferentes niveles durante una semana y en especial durante las noches del viernes y sábado en el que viene mucha gente de todo Maracaibo y el país a celebrar y a ver los resultados creados. Año tras año, por ser una experiencia viva, han habido cambios, ha ido creciendo y madurando como vivencia estética para todos los involucrados. Hoy quiero resaltar la obra de la Fundación El Semillero compuesto por Luis Gómez  Rincón, Neydalid Molero yRosana Fernández. Dicen en su texto que acompaña su intervención:

Cuando preparamos el proyecto Retrato Hablado de Anna Lynn para presentarlo a la Velada de Santa Lucia 2011, la intención era que la acción artística que llevásemos a cabo debería reflejar las inquietudes, vivencias, historias de los habitantes de la casa asignada.

Por eso decidimos hacer una entrevista a la familia de la casa y partiendo de esa entrevista desarrollar el Retrato Hablado de Anna Lynn. Llena de energia y de timidez, Anna Lynn empezó a abrirse con nosotros con mucha amabilidad y notamos la inquietud de la joven al quererse mostrar tal cual era al vecindario de Santa Lucía. Ella nos decía que era muy tímida y que por tal motivo no conocía a casi nadie, socializando poco durante los años que tenía viviendo en esa casa, su preocupación se centraba en sus emociones y de como ella quisiera que la percibieran. Ella misma dijo que este proyecto era una oportunidad para mostrarse tal cual ella es. Así que tomando los textos literales de la entrevista y obviando las partes mas dolorosas hicimos la intervención artística pensando en que las palabras salieran del interior de la vivienda y mostrarlas haciendolas públicas usando la fachada como un gran lienzo. La casa para nosotros fue una metáfora de la extensión del cuerpo de Anna Lynn, nuestra protagonista. Durante el proceso de montaje vimos que habían humedades y muchos detalles que pulir como los óxidos en las ventanas y pinturas desconchadas en las paredes. Decidimos además preparar el lienzo "la casa" tal cual como cuando preparas la base de un lienzo con tela cruda... reparamos, limpiamos y luego empezamos la acción colectiva. Una vez listo el lienzo empezamos a intervenir toda la casa desde el interior al exterior con textos de Anna Lynn cargados de sus emociones. Para nosotros, del grupo el semillero, ha sido un placer realizar esta acción colectiva, además del buen rollo que siempre hubo terminamos la acción entre chistes y buena compañía.

Today I continue to include some of the photographic images I took during the Evening of Santa Lucia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, between March 3th through 6th, 2011. I have many photos in my hands and slowly I will include them to give me the chance to reflect and tell about the experiences that were lived there. The Velada is a gathering of artists organized by Clemencia Labin starting eleven years ago. Its main characteristic is to be a live social sculpture that mixes and brings together participating artists with the people who make up the community of Santa Lucia, one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city of Maracaibo. We all participate / live together / share at different levels during a week and especially during Friday and Saturday nights in which many people come from Maracaibo and the rest of the country to celebrate and see the results created. Year after year, because it is a life experience, there have been changes, it has grown and matured as an aesthetic experience for all involved. Today I want to highlight the piece by the Fundación El Semillero constituted by Luis Gómez Rincón and Rosana Fernández. They say in their text that accompanies their intervention:

When we prepared the project of Anna Lynn's spoken portrait for submission to the Velada of Santa Lucía 2011, our intention was that the artistic action be carried out to reflect the concerns, experiences, stories of the inhabitants of the house assigned to us. So we decided to interview the family of the house and from that interview developed Anna Lynn's portrait. Full of energy and shyness, Anna Lynn began to open up with us very kindly and we noticed the concern of the young woman who wished to show herself as she really was to the neighborhood of Santa Lucia. She told us that she was very shy and because of that she hardly knew anyone, socializing little over the years she had lived in that house; her concern focused on her emotions and how she wanted to be perceived by them. She said this project was an opportunity to show herself just as she is. So taking the literal text of the interview and concealing the most painful parts, we developed the artistic intervention making the words come out of the interior of the house and showing them to the public using the facade of the house as a large canvas. For us the house served as a metaphor of the extension Anna Lynn's body, our protagonist. During the assembly process we found there was a lot of humidity on the walls and many details had to be fixed such as rust on the windows and peeling paint. We also sought to prepare the canvas "house" as you do when you prepare a canvas with natural materials ... we repaired, cleaned and then began the collective action. Once the canvas was ready we began to intervene the house from the inside out with Anna Lynn's texts that were charged with her emotions. For us, from El semillero, it has been a pleasure to carry out this collective action, in addition to the good feelings that accompanied us to the end as there was always joking around and good company.
