Mi amiga, Cristina Stein, me envía hoy estos dibujos de su jóven alumna, Nikoline. Me sorprende gratamente justo en el momento en que pensaba sobre mi entrada al blog de hoy. ¿Por qué no compartir este bello gesto suyo? La frescura de las imágenes estimula mi trabajo, señala un camino a seguir y reafirma una manera de vivir. Se lo agradezco. Ella me escribe:
Nikoline, noruega,
empezó a tomar dibujo en mi taller a los 13 años. Lleva año y medio
viniendo puntual. Tiene ahora 15 y en Junio se muda con su familia a
Bruselas. Estoy triste. Ella se siente feliz con el cambio pero también lamenta descontinuar esta bella rutina.
Al empezar conmigo, Nikoline no sabía qué hacer de adulta... después
quiso ser bióloga... después designer de moda... ahora está pensando
quizá entrar en bellas artes.
No sé lo que hará, quizá será geóloga o secretaria; pero su insistencia en el dibujo, sin falla, la hizo dibujar.
De sorpresa, le estoy haciendo una carpeta: quién sabe, si la necesita
pues la tendrá hecha. Me comporto un pelín como una mami con ella...
pero es que es inevitable!
Necesito compartir su energía con ustedes.

Today my friend, Cristina Stein, sent me these pictures of her young student, Nikoline. I was pleasantly surprised just at the very moment when I was thinking about a possible entry for my blog today. Why not share this beautiful gesture of hers? The freshness of the images stimulate my work, signal a way forward and reaffirms a way of life. I thank her. She writes:
Nikoline, Norwegian, began taking drawing in my studio at age 13. She has been coming on time fro lessons during a year and a half. She is now 15 and in June is moving with her family to Brussels. I am sad. She is happy with the change but also regrets to discontinue this beautiful routine.
When she started with me, Nikoline did not know what to do as an adult ... she wanted to be a biologist ... then a fashion designer ... now she is thinking maybe to go into the fine arts.
I do not know what she will be, perhaps a geologist or a secretary, but her insistence on drawing, without fail, made her draw.
As a surprise, I am making a portfolio for her: who knows, if she needs it, it will be done. I act a bit like a mom with her ... but it is inevitable!
I needed to share her energy with you.
