In the East people have condemned the body, condemned matter, called matter "illusory," maya - it does not really exist, it only appears to exist; it is made of the same stuff as dreams are made of. They denied the world, and that is the reason for the East remaining poor, sick, in starvation.
Half of humanity has been accepting the inner world but denying the outer world. The other half of humanity has been accepting the material world and denying the inner world. Both are half, and no man who is half can be contented. You have to be whole: rich in the body, rich in science; rich in meditation, rich in consciousness. Only a whole person is a holy person, according to me.
I want Zorba and Buddha to meet together. Zorba alone is hollow. His dance has not an eternal significance, it is momentary pleasure. Soon he will be tired of it. Unless you have inexhaustible sources, available to you from the cosmos itself...unless you become existential, you cannot become whole. Los Orientales han condenado el cuerpo, han condenado la materia, han calificado a ésta de "ilusoria", maya: no existe realmente, solamente parece como si existiera; está hecha del mismo material del que están hechos los sueños. Negaron el mundo, y esta es la razón por la cual Oriente continuó pobre, enfermo, hambriento.
Media humanidad ha estado aceptando el mundo interior pero negando el mundo exterior. La otra mitad ha estado aceptando el mundo material pero negando el mundo interior. Ambas están a medias, de forma que ningún ser humano que sea incompleto puede estar satisfecho. Tienes que ser completo: rico en el cuerpo, rico en la ciencia, rico en meditación, rico en consciencia. Sólo una persona completa es una persona sagrada, en lo que a mí respecta.
Quiero que Zorba y Buda se encuentren. Zorba sólo, está vacío. Su danza no tiene un significado eterno, es un placer momentáneo. Pronto se cansará de ella. A menos que tengas fuentes inagotables disponibles desde el mismo cosmos... a menos que te vuelvas existencial, no puedes volverte total. Ésta es mi contribución a la humanidad: la persona completa.
