Luego de dos años sin exponer en Caracas, la artista venezolana Nayarí Castillo exhibe su trabajo más reciente en una muestra denominada “Epigramas Sonoros”, que se estará presentando desde este viernes 29 de junio a las 7:00 de la noche en La Caja del Centro Cultural Chacao, en El Rosal, donde podrá ser apreciada hasta el próximo 29 de julio.

Bajo la curaduría de Lorena González, la muestra está conformada por cinco instalaciones –Horizontes para armar, Confesiones de un pirómano, Sobre el estremecimiento, Veinticinco trampas y Anotaciones tras la sacudida– en las que eventos acústicos generaron situaciones particulares reconstruidas en sala desde el fragmento y apelando a las metáforas generadas por la memoria sonora. Video, fotografía, objetos, reproducciones y demás materiales de las diferentes disciplinas de las artes visuales, se convierten en los medios a través de los cuales Nayarí Castillo reconstruye todo este discurso sonoro en la sala de exposiciones.

A juicio de la curadora de la muestra, Lorena González, “La instalación es su herramienta de aproximación hacia una sensibilidad donde la recolección de fragmentos elabora una narrativa especial en el espacio museográfico, mirada abierta donde la ausencia de la información absoluta o de la verdad general, es precisamente el abismo que refleja la perspectiva del suceso, proceso donde la obra al igual que la memoria reconstruye de nuevo y en cada momento lo que ya fue, nunca lo anterior ni lo porvenir, sino un ejercicio de retención constante que es siempre pasado. Posibilidad de una imagen que es plena al saberse ella misma imposible de plenitud”.

“En este caso, Castillo parte de cinco instalaciones especiales donde determinados sucesos han hecho estallar distintos niveles de aproximación. En las historias contadas un origen crucial desata la fuerza de la imagen, sonido ausente que conforma el epicentro del enigma y donde la imagen y la palabra serán la clave y el fundamento en la recuperación de lo que no está”, concluye González.

Con una amplia e importante trayectoria en el ámbito de las artes visuales nacionales e internacionales, Nayarí Castillo (n.1977) vive y trabaja actualmente entre Berlín (Alemania) y Plymouth (Inglaterra). Ganó el Premio del Salón Arturo Michelena (2004) y el Primer Premio del Salón Jóvenes con FIA (2005), entre otros reconocimientos, además ha exhibido su obra en distintas ciudades de Asia, Europa y Latinoamérica.

El público tendrá la oportunidad de apreciar la obra de esta destacada artista a través de la exposición “Epigramas Sonoros”, del 29 de junio al 29 de julio en “La Caja Espacio de Investigación Visual” del Centro Cultural Chacao, ubicado en la Avenida Tamanaco de El Rosal. El horario es de martes a sábado de 12:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., y domingos de 11:00 a.m. a 7:00 p.m. La entrada es libre.

After two years without exhibiting in Caracas, the Venezuelan artist Nayarí Castillo exhibits her latest work in a show called "Sound Epigrams", which will be presented this Friday June 29 at 7:00 pm in La Caja Gallery at the Chacao Cultural Center in El Rosal, where it can be appreciated until the 29th of July.

  

Curated by Lorena González, the exhibit consists of five installations- Horizons to build, Confessions of an arsonist, On the quiver, Twenty-five traps and Annotations after the shake- in which acoustic events generated particular situations reconstructed from the fragment and appealing to the metaphors generated by the sound memory. Video, photography, objects, prints and other materials from the different disciplines of the visual arts, become the means through which Nayarí Castillo rebuilds all this discourse on sound in the exhibition hall. 

According to the curator of the show, Lorena Gonzalez, "The installation is her tool of approaching a sensitivity where the recollection of fragments produces a particular narrative in the museographic space, an open look where the absence of absolute information or general truth, is precisely the gap that reflects the perspective of the event, the process where the work as well as memory reconstructs again and every time what happened already, never what occurred before nor in the future, but an exercise of constant restraint which is always past. Possibility of an image that is filled upon learning itself impossible of fulfillment."

"In this case, Castillo departs from five special installation pieces where certain events have burst different levels of approximation. In the stories told a crucial source unleashes the power of the image, absent sound that forms the epicenter of the puzzle and where the image and the word will be the key and the foundation of the recovery of what is not there," says González. 

With a broad and significant experience in the field of national and international visual arts, Nayarí Castillo (n.1977) lives and works between Berlin (Germany) and Plymouth (England). She won the Arturo Michelena Prize(2004) and the First Prize of Youth with FIA (2005), among other recognitions, and additionally she has exhibited in various cities in Asia, Europe and Latin America. 

The public will have the opportunity to appreciate the work of this outstanding artist through the exhibition "Sound Epigrams" from June 29 to July 29 in "The Caja Visual Research Gallery" at the Chacao Cultural Center, located at Avenida Tamanaco El Rosal. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Admission is free.
