PASA EL CAMIÓN
Los lunes pasa el camión de la basura
y se detiene
a recoger mis restos.
Sospecho que
entre la grama
hay hormigas así
que vienen a buscar
mi diario desperdicio
y algunas nunca logran acercarse.
Celebro cuando el aseo,
puntual a su faena,
irrumpe la calma de la cuadra
y sacude las casas con su ruido.
Admiro el anuncio de sus frenos,
liberación de la mugre y el pasado.
¿Cómo harán las hormigas
para invadir mi silencio
y acopiar a escondidas
mi derribo?
¿Qué cosa útil
llevarán sobre sus cuerpos
si en cada gramo de herrumbre
fallezco poco a poco?

THE TRUCK PASSES BYOn Mondays the garbage truck passes by
and stops
to collect my remains.
I suspect
in the grass
there are ants so
they come to get
my daily waste
and some never come close.
I celebrate when the garbage pick up,
on time to its task,
interrupts the calm of the block
and shakes the houses with its noise.
I admire the announcement of its brakes,
liberation of the dirt and the past.
How will the ants
invade my silence
and secretly collect
my debris?
What useful thing
will they carry over their bodies
if in each gram of rust
I pass away slowly?
