 Ruinas

Primero fueron los pájaros,
con su plumaje y sus cantos,
los que abandonaron el valle.
hacia el sur se alejaron, hacia
la hojosa selva de grandes aguas,
esmaltadas piedras y espumas.
No volverán estos pájaros,
ni a gozar volveremos su hermosura.
Mejor lanzarse en busca
de la periferia frondosa, la luz
inmóvil y el aire regalado,
que regresar a esta penumbra,
con su seco bosque y su turbio lago.

Ruins

First came the birds,
in their plumage and their songs,
those that abandoned the valley.
Towards the south they left, towards
the leafy forest of great waters,
glazed stones and foams.
These birds will not return,
neither shall we enjoy their beauty.
Best to jump in search
of the lush periphery, the motionless
light and the given air,
than to return to this darkness,
with its dry forest and murky lake.
