No puede hacerlo
El águila puede hacerlo
y todavía más, el cóndor,
el gavilán que sobrevuela los pequeños valles
y chilla, chilla, chilla, puede hacerlo;
cuando cierra los ojos, prácticamente
está sumergido en la libertad.
Pedir y dar, no son razones de ese mundo,
triunfar o no triunfar; sufrir o gozar por amor,
conocer los motivos que otros tuvieron
para decir o hacer lo que dijeron e hicieron,
de poco sirve,
o mejor, sirve para reproducir con exactitud
el hilo que va de la experiencia a otra madeja.
Conciencia aparte, el hombre ama a la historia
aunque no más que el león a la leona,
la ama para verse como en un espejo,
pero vivir, sólo vivir, con el máximo motivo
que da la vida, no puede hacerlo.
