Rosquillas

El día en que

le dijeron a mi abuela

que su hija más joven

se había quitado la vida

con un puñado

de pastillas

se puso

a freír rosquillas

Años más tarde

cuando la abuela

ya había envejecido

hasta perderse a sí misma

le dijeron

que su hijo

había muerto

Y ella preguntó:

"¿Ya se lo habéis dicho

a su madre?"

Le vino a la mente

aquella mujer

que freía rosquillas

aquí mismo hace años

y deseaba

con toda su alma

ser cualquier otra

my grandmother was told

that her youngest daughter

with a handful

of pills

she

fried donuts

Years later

when Grandma

had aged so much

to lose herself

she was told

her son

had died

And she asked:

"Did you tell

his mother?"

It came to mind

that woman

frying donuts

here years ago

and wished

with all her soul

to be another
