setiembre::september

September
Look September: nothing has been lost
by trusting the leaves.
Youth came and went, the trees did not move.
The dying brother burned you in tears
but the sun continues.
The house was demolished, not its memory.
Look September, its shovel over the shoulder
how it drags the dry leaves.
Life is worth more than life, only that matters.
No one asked us to be born,
What did our parents know? Theirs, what did they know?
No pain saved them shadow and yet
they mixed with the time of earth.
Trees know less than we do
and yet they do not turn back.
Earth is much more alone now without gods
but it never curses.
Look September how the forest opens you
and exceeds your desire.
Open your hands, fill them with these slow leaves,
do not loose even one of them.
