Navidad
Es temporada de renos
en Caracas. temporada
de pinos de verdad
tan hermosos
que parecen de plástico
y pinos de plástico
tan hermosos
que parecen de verdad.
Lo bello siempre parece
de otra especie
de otro mundo:
por eso es tan hermosa
Caracas
en navidad
por los renos
extraviados y la nieve
bajo el sol absoluto
por las luces en el Guaire
y la cruz del norte/ vacía
tan lejos
de Israel.

Christmas
It is season of reindeer
in Caracas. Season
of real pines
so beautiful
that they look plastic
and plastic pines
so beautiful
that they look real.
The beautiful always seems
of another species
out of this world:
that is why it is so beautiful
Caracas
in christmas
because of the reindeer
lost and the snow
under an absolute sun
by lights on the Guaire river
and the north cross / empty
far away from
Israel.
