Debo creer en el derecho a la vida

del asesino

o yo misma lo seré,

por lo menos en mi corazón.

Debo creer en su derecho a hablar

de la garganta que tajó

o ansía tajar.

Pero también

tengo que creer

en su derecho a pensar

y recordar

lo mucho que es odiado:

que el odio 

rebosa sus bolsillos.

oof the murderer

or I myself will be,

at least in my heart.

I must believe in his right to speak

of the throat he slit

or wishes to slice.

But also

I have to believe

in his right to think

and remember

how much he is hated:

that hatred

overflows his pockets.
