Los exiliados hablan de su país
como si este todavía existiese.
Se olvidan, sin embargo,
de que al subir al avión
el país se convierte
en un poco de ironía
y persistentes recuerdos.
Podrán volver, es cierto,
pero el país será diferente.
Los exiliados continúan hablando de su país
y el país, a espaldas suyas, crece.
les reserva, en todo caso,
seis pies de tierra
para su definitivo regreso.

Exile and the Kingdom
The exiles speak of their country
as if it still existed.
They forget, however,
that when boarding the plane
the country becomes
into a bit of irony
and persistent memories.
They may return, it is true,
but the country will be different.
The exiles continue talking about their country
and the country, behind their backs, grows.
It reserves for them, in any case,
six feet of earth
for their final return.
