Tosen viejos los árboles de invierno

Tosen viejos los árboles de invierno
sobre los blancos pavorreales de la muerte
donde la lluvia habla latín
tosen a la ululante ceniza trágica
atan valijas de partir se anochecen
y erizan los pulmones de frío
a la escarcha del rayo
ocultando ataúdes en sus capas de reyes.

Winter trees cough like old men

Winter trees cough like old men
about death's white peacocks
while the rain talks in Latin.
They cough about the sobbing tragic ash,
they bind valises for leaving, they darken-
and in the chill of frost
from the sun the lungs bristle to see
coffins hidden in the cape of kings.
