Nos dieron el revés de las cosas
nos obligaron a permanecer despiertos
en el último cuarto de la estancia.
Sin puertas aparentes, sin cerrojo,
salvo los cuervos, allá afuera,
esperando por nuestra vigilia.
Hemos pasado ya tantas lunas entre los muertos
que nada puede resultarnos distante.
Todo lo real está del lado de la sombra.

We were given the wrong side of things
we were forced to stay awake
in the last room of the living quarters.
Without apparent doors, without locks,
except for the crows, out there,
waiting for our vigil.
We have spent so many moons among the dead
that nothing can result distant for us.
Everything real is on the side of the shadow.
