the desolate field::el campo desolado
The desolate field
Vast and gray, the sky
is a simulacrum
to all but him whose days
are vast and gray, and-
In the tall, dried grasses
a goat stirs
with nozzle searching the ground.
-my head is in the air
but who am I...?
And amazed my heart leaps
at the thought of love
vast and gray
yearning silently over me.
William Carlos Williams (1883-1963)

El campo desolado
Vasto y gris, el cielo
es un simulacro
para todos, excepto para aquel cuyos días
son vastos y grises, y-
Entre los altos, secos pastos
se agita una cabra
con su hocico buscando la tierra.
-mi cabeza está en el aire
pero ¿quién soy yo ...?
Y sorprendido mi corazón salta
al pensar en el amor
vasto y gris
anhelante y silencioso sobre mí.
William Carlos Williams (1883-1963)
