¿Cómo escribir ahora poesía,
por qué no callarnos definitivamente
y dedicarnos a cosas mucho más útiles?
¿Para qué aumentar las dudas,
revivir antiguos conflictos,
imprevistas ternuras;
ese poco de ruido
añadido a un mundo
que lo sobrepasa y anula?
¿Se aclara algo con semejante ovillo?
Nadie la necesita.
Residuo de viejas glorias,
¿a quién acompaña, qué herida cura?

How to write poetry now,
why not silence ourselves definitely
and devote ourselves to much more useful things?
Why raise doubts,
relive old conflicts,
unexpected tenderness;
that amount of noise
added to a world
that surpasses and annuls it?
Is something cleared out with such entanglement?
No one needs it.
Residue of old glories,
who does it accompany, what wound does it heals?
